Unlike the recent Japanese coup that brought us some really cool new footage from Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 3, this IMAX trailer shows us much of what we’ve already seen. Toy Story 3 is a 3-D presentation from Pixar and is scheduled to hit theaters this Summer (June 18th). When it does arrive, we will be introduced to a host of new characters, including Chunk and Chatter Telephone, Sparks, Stretch, Twitch, Trixie, Buttercup, and Lotso! Our old friends are back though, as Woody, Buzz, Joan Cusack, Wallace Shawn, John Morris, Don Rickles, Estelle Harris, John Ratzenberger and Jodi Benson are also all back!
Make sure you also check out a trio of promo featurettes over at BSCkids. One of my favorite clips is actually this very short bit featuring the Green Army Men (which I’m not sure is even official) that we posted over at Kids back in February.

Watching the Toy Story 3 game trailer raises your hopes – but the reality is that there are few decent games based on films

It's a truth universally acknowledged that good games based on films are nearly as rare as good films based on games; Goldeneye on the N64 and one or two of the better Star Wars titles stick out as exceptions among a sea of dross.
Could Toy Story 3, based on the eagerly awaited Pixar sequel and coming to pretty much every platform, be one of the few games that transcends its status as a mere film adaptation and actually stand up as an enjoyable game on its own merits?
The chances seem slim, although the trailer does a fairly good job of raising one's hopes. The visuals look great – one could almost be watching sequences from the film itself (although obviously don't expect anything so impressive on the DS and PSP versions) — and some of the brief flashes of gameplay look to have the potential for fun.
However, when character customisation is singled out as a major selling point, you've got to wonder if they really thought that's something potential players are going to get excited about.
Unlikely to be an earth-shatteringly important release then, but hey, let's wait to give it a chance before completely damning it, eh?
And in the meantime: what other decent games based on films are there? A quick Google search brings up this list, which features a few dubious choices (Path of Neo? Really?) Surely there's better out there?

‘Toy Story 3′ sneak peak thrills students
A large cardboard box covered in neon flyers approached Barton Robison and Mark Olsen on the Tempe campus a few weeks ago and started talking to them.
The film and media production sophomores were a bit surprised by the spectacle, but they were more curious.
“It’s definitely unusual and it caught your attention from far away,” Olsen said.
“I thought it was a religious thing,” added Robison.
But this wasn’t the usual sort of campus solicitation that students face on a daily basis —this was about “Toy Story 3.”
The flyers on what was called a “robot box” were the same ones that have littered ASU campuses for a month advertising Señor Buzz’s Spanish and Flamenco classes, Slinky’s Yoga sessions, Ham Financial services and job opportunities at Pizza Planet.
The pull-tabs on the bottom of the flyers lead to BuzzCampusASU.com, a page with special college- and social media-themed trailers for “Toy Story 3,” which links to a Facebook page about an advanced screening of the anticipated movie set to come out on June 18.
That screening was held Wednesday at Harkins Tempe Marketplace, drawing a crowd of around 200.
The “Toy Story 3” cliffhanger screening showed only the first 60 minutes of the 98-minute film. The event was one of 40 that will take place through May 6 near college campuses nationwide.
The type of under-the-radar marketing scheme and extended teaser type of screening struck many attendees as unusual. However, it seemed to work, as many of the attendees said they would come back to see the whole movie in 3D when it is released.
“It’s a cliffhanger … it’s a marketing ploy and we’ll fall for it,” said Chad Stafford, a media arts and animation student at the Art Institute of Phoenix.
Only college students with a valid ID were allowed into the screening that brought out the most dedicated fans of the “Toy Story” series.
“I think we’re kind of more excited than little kids,” said communications freshman Kristina Bransfield, wearing a “Toy Story” t-shirt and sitting next to a “Toy Story” tote bag.
In “Toy Story 3,” the owner of the toys, Andy, gets ready to go to college, a detail in the plot the college age audience identified with.
“Andy’s always been our age. When we were five, he was five,” elementary education student Sarah Weltsch said.
It was a thought the director, Lee Unkrich, also expressed in a pre-recorded introduction made specifically for the cliffhanger screenings.
When the first few chords of “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” played, the college students seemingly turned into the young children they were when the first “Toy Story” was released.
By the time the 60 minutes were over, the audience had become so engaged in the movie that they forgot it was supposed to end early.
The groans of displeasure triggered by the black screen made it clear the group in attendance would be back for the full-length release.

Toy Story #3 continues the ongoing series with part four of The Return of Buzz Lightyear. This storyline started with Andy receiving a new Buzz Lightyear toy. When they found out that Andy was going to return the new Buzz Lightyear for a different toy, we see the new Buzz force the old Buzz, or ‘Sally’, into the box so he doesn’t have to return to the shelf of the store. This spurs a rescue mission with the new Buzz and the recently purchased Booster. In the last issue, new Buzz and Sally are in a race to see who should go back to Andy and the new Buzz cheats by releasing a display of bouncing balls to stop Sally from winning the race. In this issue, we see the conclusion of the race and a lot of the backstory of the new Buzz and the end of his adventure.
This new ongoing Toy Story series has been very true to the original source material and fits with the style of both movies. This storyline very much reminds me of the second movie and part of the first where we follow the toys in adventures outside of the house. I really enjoy the characterization of each of the toys that is very true to the movies. I also really enjoy the introduction of new characters and the different variant versions of Buzz Lightyear. Overall Jesse Blaze Snider captures the magic of Toy Story and runs with it in a way that will please any Pixar fan and entertain kids who read it.
The art, credited to Nathan Wilson and Mike Decarlo, is great throughout the book but there are quite a few panels with no backgrounds and just solid color. While this isn’t something that necessarily kills the look of the book, when you are dealing with a story as stylistic as Toy Story, you have a great opportunity to work with the backgrounds and play with size comparison. This is something I really hope they take and run with in later issues. The art otherwise is wonderful and it is very understandable that there is less backgrounds considering the amount of characters needing to be drawn throughout the story.
The standout of the art is the colors by Mickey Clausen and Eric Cobain. The way they capture the Pixar look on the page is stunning. I really enjoy a lot of the colorists that BOOM! Studios has taken to using in most of their books. They tend to perfect the look of every licensed story with ease and I am curious to see how this is possible. Do they do a lot of reference to source material? Whatever they do, it works.
As a whole I enjoyed the story and will continue reading.

Trailer Park: 'SATC 2', 'Toy Story 3' and 'The Kids are All Right'

Hey movie trailer fans! Welcome back to the Trailer Park. It was interesting to see that last week’s reader comments were all about Angelina Jolie. Folks definitely have an opinion about the would-be Mrs. Pitt! Now, let’s see if there’s as much reaction to another beautiful leading actress from Hollywood’s elite.
Warner Bros. has released the second trailer for their hotly anticipated sequel, “Sex and the City 2,” starring Sarah Jessica Parker. Is it just me or are these four TV-stars turned silver-screen-sirens completely ageless?
I mean, all four of them - SJP, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis look as gorgeous and fresh as they did back in 1998 when the original “Sex and the City” debuted on HBO. In the film, two years has passed since the last time we caught up with New York’s fab four and the girls are dealing with marriage, parenthood and a whole lot of temptation - Carrie’s other great love, “Aidan,” is back in the picture.
While there’s no trace of Jennifer Hudson this go around, notable a-list additions to the cast do include Penelope Cruz and cameos by Miley Cyrus and Liza Manelli.
For fans of the “Toy Story” franchise - and let’s face it, with the first two films grossing $847 million at the worldwide box office, there are a few - Disney and Pixar are back with “Toy Story 3.”
This time, Andy is going to college and so it throws the fate of his favorite childhood toys into serious jeopardy. The fact that Andy kept all of his childhood toys through high school might throw his future romantic prospects into serious jeopardy, but that’s a whole other story. I started laughing hysterically at the point in the trailer when the toy triceratops tries to hide her instant messenger account on the computer!
There are a bunch of new toys this time around and that means a bunch of new voiceover talent, including Whoopi Goldberg, Michael Keaton and Cheech Marin.
Finally, this week, for those who enjoyed Julianne Moore’s hot and steamy scene with Amanda Seyfried in the erotic thriller, “Chloe,” a new movie trailer is out which offers the four-time Oscar nominee in yet another same sex scenario, this time with three-time Oscar nominee, Annette Bening.
The movie is called “The Kids are All Right” and also stars “Alice in Wonderland” actress Mia Wasikowska.
Moore and Bening play a lesbian couple with two teenage kids conceived with donated sperm. When the kids grow up and decide it’s high time they met their “donor” father, movie-lovers finally get the answer to that age old question, “What happens when siblings conceived by lesbian mothers through artificial insemination bring their biological father back into the mix?” Okay, it’s not really an age-old question, but it might be some day! Why not answer it now?

Brand New Toy Story 3 French Poster
Pixar recently released this new French poster featuring characters from the upcoming animated film “Toy Story
